INCS Action Paves the Way to Victory for Pro Public School Choice Candidates

All Six INCS Action Endorsed Candidates Win Big in Illinois Primary Elections

Chicago, Ill. – INCS Action helped pave the way to six primary victories for pro public school choice candidates in the 2024 Illinois Primary Election. INCS Action is a bipartisan, policy-based political organization and a sister entity of the Illinois Network of Charter Schools (INCS), an advocacy organization focused on the improvement of public education by establishing high-quality charter public schools.

INCS Action endorsed candidates who secured victories include:

  1. Michael Crawford – D, House District 31 (incumbent challenge)
  2. Angie Guerrero-Cuellar – D, House District 22 (open seat pick up)
  3. Thaddeus Jones– D, House District 29 (incumbent support)
  4. Rick Ryan – D, House District 36 (open seat pick up)
  5. Blaine Wilhour – R, House District 110 (incumbent support)
  6. Dave Severin – R, House District 116 (incumbent support)

“INCS Action is continuing its tradition of supporting political candidates who put school quality, rather than school type, at the center of their education agenda,” said Andrew Broy, president of INCS Action.

Over the past five weeks, INCS Action has supported direct mail, digital advertising, connected TV, persuasion calls, and a field program for many of our preferred candidates.

INCS Action aims to a build a strong, bipartisan coalition of support for public school choice, charter schools, and common sense education reform in the General Assembly by engaging in the electoral process. Perhaps the most consequential race was the Michael Crawford race in which he won against a long-time Democratic incumbent.

Another pivotal win this primary cycle was Representative Angie Guerrero-Cuellar, an appointed member of the General Assembly in her first election cycle. Representative Guerrero-Cuellar is a former charter school employee and has been a strong voice in Springfield for common sense school reform measures.

INCS Action has proudly been politically active in state elections since 2014.
